This air freshener is by AlexAnder and was sold in Halfords' in the early 1990s. (You'll recognize the store name, as they sold other Sonic items too) The box helps set the scene for the item, with a picture of a race track and modified stock sonic holding a checkered flag. The red car likely houses the freshening agent/block/item. Sonic is a little 3D figural head, arms and possibly part of the torso
While interesting, this item is not common. One once sold for $57 dollars over ebay, which is also interesting because it reveals that only Sonic the Hedgehog can make someone spend over 50 dollars for an air freshener.
